Music Class: Pink Floyd

I feel that this song reflects to a certain extent, the education system throughout the world.  I understand that its efficiency allows the government to provide education for all, however Quality and Efficiency need not be mutually-exclusive.  Aside from my suggestion in my previous post, I feel teachers can learn how to “kindle the flame” of learning through Socratic Questioning: http://www.criticalthinking.org/pages/the-role-of-socratic-questioning-in-thinking-teaching-amp-learning/522.

As I mentioned as well in another previous post, my World History teacher used this method, and her lessons were pretty much burned into my soul.  Her class discussion mostly consisted of us students answering her questions, instead of us just listening to her explain something, like some liquid “filling a vessel”.  Because in all honesty, we can just watch a video lesson if learning is just listening to someone explaining something right?

“You! Yes, you! Stand still laddie!”

When we grew up and went to school,
there were certain teachers,
who would hurt the children any way they could.

(“Move!”)

By pouring out their derision,
upon anything we did,
exposing every weakness, however, carefully hidden by the kids.

“Hahahahaha…”

(But in)
But in the town, it was well known that when they got home at night,
their fat and psychopathic wives,
would thrash them,
within inches of their lives!

Ooh!!!

[Another Brick in the Wall Part 2]

We don’t need no education.
We don’t need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teacher leave them kids alone.
Hey, teacher! Leave them kids alone!

All in all, it’s just another brick in the wall.
All in all, your just another brick in the wall.

We don’t need no education.
We don’t need no thought control.
No dark sarcasm in the classroom.
Teacher leave them kids alone.
Hey, teacher! Leave us kids alone!

All in all, your just another brick in the wall.
All in all, your just another brick in the wall.

“Wrong! Guess again!”
(“Wrong! Guess again!”)
“If you don’t eat yer meat, you can’t have any pudding!”
“How can you have any pudding, when you don’t eat yer meat?!”
(“You!”)
“Yes, you! Behind the bikesheds! Stand still laddie!”
